Postmark La Follette Arts, Culture and History Center’s Theater will be auditioning for their seventh upcoming play, Southbound . Watch Facebook page for futue notices. The previous plays have been extremely well received by the community with almost complete sell outs for each performance. The plays are based on local lore and some have had a comedic side to them.
Most of those who have participated in previous plays have no previous experience. Now is your time to join in a try your on stage or behind the scenes persona.

Save the dates of December 7 or 8, get the kids ready for a special treat just for them. “Mac and the Musical Cats” will be coming to our stage at Postmark LaFollette, 119 S. Tennessee Avenue. There is plenty of parking in the City parking lot.
December 7 performance will be at 4 p.m. The Christmas Parade starts at 6 p.m. that evening, a fun day for our youth. The 4 p.m. performance will give attendees plenty of time to come down; see the play and have plenty of time to get a great spot to see the Christmas Parade that starts at 6 p.m.
Sunday, December 8 performance will be at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $3 each or 2 for $5. TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR AT EACH PERFORMANCE
We are partnering with GiGi’s Dance Studio to bring a short story to the community about a young boy who visits LaFollette during WWII and staying at the Russell Hotel. While peering out the window he sees a line of cats coming down the ally, some with instruments on their back. They end up in the old post office. His curiosity gets the best of him and he follows the cats, that no one else seems to see. The story tells of how the musical cats inspired him throughout his life.
An illustrated book, in poem form of “Mac and the Musical Cats” is available with a donation of $10 to Postmark LaFollette, a 501c3 non profit.

Northbound is brought to our community by a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commisison's Rural Arts Project grant as well as funding support from Senator Ken Yager. Our other fine supporters are, Community Trust Bank, Indian River Marina, United Cumberland Bank, and Terry's Pharmacy.
Tickets are available at the door for the August 24 and 25, along with August 30, 31 and September 1. Friday and Saturday performances doors open at 6:15 and Sundays doors open at 1:15. Performances start 45 minutes later.

Postmark Theater creates live theater for our community, by our community, and about our community.
Northbound will be our fourth play that has been written about our community.
Our first play, Letter Box, Please Forward was based during the period of 1930's through WWII. The creative use of actual letters that came through the former LaFollette Post Office as well as stories that have been told over time were reproduced on several stages throughout the old sorting room and the ghost of Irene Miller the first post mistress of the then new building guided us through these events, some heartwarming and other told the sad stories of the era.
Our second play, Mountain Voices was adaptation of several books written by local authors about the lives and times of either their growing up in Campbell County, or their family histories. Like Letter Box, the play was presented in a vignette setting as the players moved from one authors writing to the next. As they moved from story to story, the actors left a bit of their costume on the stage, at the end of the play all of the pieces of costumes were picked up and deposited in a trunk from which a beautiful quilt appears on stage showing that all of these stories, and their characters were intertwined by the fabric of their lives and blended together in a beautiful quilt.
Our third play, written by Tony Branam was a full length play called Where I Belong, a hilarious comedy portraying how one women's desire to have her granddaughter return home, where she belonged, and how she achieved that goal. Naturally she meets up with all of the helpful folks who were there just to make her life much easier. The other aspect was that her husband was more than excited to come and live in the peace and quiet of the country. So may funny things happened around the old stove in the store.
Our fourth play written also by Tony Branam, Northbound and he has again been very creative and put his comedic endeavors to use for a time where things were rough for the entire country, but especially in the south. This play was written to coincide with Postmark LaFollette receiving the Smithsonian Exhibit which will start September 7. The exhibit is called Crossroads: Changes In Rural America. One of the many changes involved so many people moving North to find work in manufacturing plants as coal mines and farming became more and more difficult to provide people with the work necessary to live.
Tony takes on the lighter side of a family moving North and how their travel to Ohio on a Scenic Cruiser Bus and the events that unfold on that bus.
